"There are many amazing mediation resources available online but I really like the "Calm" app as it provides guided sessions ranging in time from 3 to 25 minutes and lets you choose a "mantra" or area you would like to focus on such as calming anxiety, gratitude or mindfulness at work—as well as sleep sounds, nature sounds, and breathing exercises." "I like to mentally escape with thoughts on the sounds of water – and living in Scotland we have plenty of it. Sometimes its listening to the 30ft waterfall in my local park whilst at other times its thinking about being beside the sea – either with the waves gently lapping up the beach in Ayr, or on windy days with the seas crashing onto the rocks. Even heavy rain hitting the window sounds great, and concentrating on the sounds of water can provide a wonderful escape or distraction."

Working From Home Tips
Marketing Manager Ashley Maclachlan

"In the Spring & Summertime on the West of Scotland, we have beautiful sunrises between 5am - 6am and I try to meditate outside at a local beach near my home. Here I usually focus on my breathing and try to empty my head of thoughts. The sounds of nature are a perfect backing track and it's all about trying to be present in the moment. As Autumn & Winter come around, it's a lot darker in the mornings so I practice meditation indoors using my 'muse' device. Muse is a great tool, you wear it as a headband and it syncs with an app on your phone to help give a guided meditation. The device monitors your brain waves to see if you are calm or active & responds by playing weather feedback. For example, when my mind is active I can hear heavy rainfall but when it is calm I can hear the sweet sound of birds. And if I find myself getting stressed throughout the day, I always come back to my breath. Breathing can help calm you instantly and is especially useful at this difficult time."
